Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have over it.

Who we are
This website is run by LNKS Luanda Music Group, part of LNKS, a UK record label. LNKS is the controller of personal data collected through this website. LNKS has its head office in Manchester and an office in London. LNKS opened an office in Luanda, Angola, and created LNKS Luanda Music Group there. Outside the UK and Luanda, our people work remotely. This policy covers every page of this website, in English and in Portuguese.
For anything to do with your personal data, email us at lnksluandamusicgroup@gmail.com. We have not appointed a data protection officer, so please send all privacy questions and requests to that address.
What we collect
We only receive personal information that you choose to send us, plus a small amount of technical information needed to deliver the website.
- Messages you send us. Our contact form does not send anything to a server. It opens your own email app with a message to lnksluandamusicgroup@gmail.com already filled in. The form asks for a topic, your first name, last name and email address, an optional company or artist name, an optional subject and your message. When you send that email, or write to us directly, we receive those details together with anything else in the email, such as your display name, your email signature and any links or attachments you choose to include.
- Job applications and introductions. The application form on our careers page works the same way as the contact form: it sends nothing to a server, and either opens your own email app with your application already filled in or lets you copy it into an email yourself. It asks for the role, where you would work, your first name, an optional last name, your email address, an optional phone or WhatsApp number, a link to your work or CV and your message, and you can tick a box to let us keep your details on file for future roles for 12 months. If you write to us about a role, we receive whatever you send, such as your CV, work samples, links and contact details.
- Press, investor, partner and referral enquiries. Your name, role, organisation, contact details and the content of our correspondence. Labels and managers who refer an artist for RISE may also send us information about that artist.
- Scam and impersonation reports. The details you give us, which may include screenshots, account names, phone numbers or messages you received.
- RISE chart votes. To vote, on the RISE page or on an artist's page, you sign in with your Google account. Google tells us your name, email address, profile picture link and a Google account number; we never see your Google password. For each vote we record which artist you chose, the day, the time, and a random code saved on your device that holds nothing about you. Before a vote is saved, Cloudflare checks that a person, not a program, is voting; for that check Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic details about your browser. We use all of this only to run a fair chart: one vote per person per day, one account per device per day.
- Technical information. When your browser asks for a page, the servers of our website hosting provider receive standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. This is used to deliver pages and keep the site secure. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
The settings this website saves in your own browser, such as light or dark mode, stay on your device and are never sent to us. They are described in our Cookie Policy.
We do not ask for special category information (for example about health, religion or ethnic origin). Please do not include it in your messages unless it is genuinely needed.
Why we use it and our lawful bases
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) we must have a lawful basis for each use of your information. These are ours.
- Answering your enquiries. Legitimate interests: replying to the people who contact us and running our business.
- Press, investor and partner discussions. Legitimate interests in building relationships with the press and partners, and steps taken at your request before entering into a contract where you are discussing an agreement with us.
- RISE artist referrals from labels and managers. Legitimate interests in finding and supporting new artists for RISE.
- Job applications and introductions. Steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, so that we can consider you for a role. If you agree, we keep your details on file to consider you for future roles; that is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by emailing us.
- Scam and impersonation reports. Legitimate interests in protecting the public, our artists and our name from fraud.
- Running the RISE chart vote. Legitimate interests in running a fair public chart that cannot be rigged by fake accounts or automated voting.
- Delivering and securing the website. Legitimate interests in keeping the site available and safe.
- Legal claims and records. Legitimate interests in establishing, exercising or defending legal claims, and legal obligation where the law requires us to keep records or to share information with an authority.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed our interests against yours and only use your information in ways you would reasonably expect. You have the right to object to this use at any time (see Your rights).
We do not use your information for marketing, we do not build profiles and we do not make any decisions about you by automated means alone.
What you have to give us
Writing to us is entirely voluntary. On the contact form, your first name, last name, email address and message are needed so that we know who you are and can reply; the company or artist name and subject are optional. On the application form, the role, where you would work, your first name, email address, link to your work or CV and message are needed; your last name and phone number are optional. If you choose not to give us the details we need, we may not be able to answer your enquiry or consider your application.
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We only share it where needed with:
- Google, which provides our email service (Gmail) and the Sign in with Google service used for RISE voting. Emails you send us are stored on Google's servers, which may be outside the UK.
- Supabase, which stores RISE sign ins and votes for us on servers in Frankfurt, Germany (in the EU).
- Cloudflare, which runs the bot check when you vote on RISE.
- Our website hosting provider, which receives the technical information needed to deliver pages.
- Our teams in the UK and in Luanda, where they need it to deal with your enquiry.
- Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, where needed.
- Authorities, such as the police, courts or regulators, where the law requires it.
If you contact us through Instagram, Meta's own privacy policy also applies to that conversation. If you press play on a YouTube video or an Apple Music song preview on an artist's page, your browser connects directly to Google or Apple, as explained in our Cookie Policy.
International transfers
Because we work in the UK and in Luanda, your information may be transferred from the UK to Angola so that our Luanda team can deal with it, and from Angola to the UK. Emails are also stored on Google's servers, which may be in other countries. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for details of the safeguards that apply by emailing lnksluandamusicgroup@gmail.com.
Google and Cloudflare may process the information described above outside the UK. Where they do, they use the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU and US Data Privacy Framework. Supabase keeps RISE data in the EU, which the UK treats as providing adequate protection.
How long we keep it
- General enquiries: 2 years from our last contact.
- Job applicants: 12 months after the role closes. Speculative introductions: 12 months. If you have agreed to us keeping your details for future roles, we keep them for 12 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Investor and partner correspondence: for the length of the discussions, plus 6 years if an agreement is made.
- Scam and impersonation reports: 2 years.
- RISE: each vote is kept for 12 weeks and then deleted. Weekly results (the winning artist and the number of votes) contain nothing about any voter and are kept as the RISE Hall of Fame. Your sign in record (name, email, Google account number) is deleted 12 months after you last signed in, or sooner if you ask us. Counts of refused vote attempts, with nothing that identifies anyone, are kept for a year.
- Legal claims: where information is needed for a claim, we keep it until the claim is resolved.
When a period ends, we delete the information or make it anonymous.
Your rights
To delete your RISE account and all your votes, email lnksluandamusicgroup@gmail.com from the Google address you used to sign in. Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (access);
- have inaccurate information corrected (rectification);
- have your information deleted (erasure);
- ask us to limit how we use it (restriction);
- receive information you gave us in a portable format (portability);
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent; this does not affect what we did before you withdrew it;
- not be subject to decisions made solely by automated means; we do not make any.
Your right to object. Where we use your information on the basis of legitimate interests, you can object at any time. We will then stop unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or we need the information for a legal claim.
To use any of these rights, email lnksluandamusicgroup@gmail.com. It is free. We will reply within one month, and we may ask you to confirm your identity before we act.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first at lnksluandamusicgroup@gmail.com so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. If you live in Angola, you can complain to the Agência de Protecção de Dados (APD).
Children
This website is for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 18, please involve a parent or guardian before you send us any personal details. If we learn that we hold information from a child without that involvement, we will delete it.
Artists and partners on this website
The biographies and photos of artists and partners on this website are published with their agreement. If you are featured and want something changed or removed, email lnksluandamusicgroup@gmail.com and we will deal with it.
Cookies and browser storage
This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking. The homepage, the RISE page, the artists page, each artist's page and the news page read the live RISE Chart from our database provider, Supabase, which sees only your connection's technical details (such as your IP address), never who you are. If you sign in to vote, your Google sign in is kept in your own browser so you stay signed in, and a Cloudflare bot check runs only when you press Vote. Every other page loads nothing from another company. A few settings you choose, such as light or dark mode and the language for artist biographies, and short notes that play the page transitions, are saved in your own browser and never sent to us. YouTube videos (from youtube-nocookie.com) and 30 second Apple Music song previews only load from Google and Apple when you press play. Our Cookie Policy lists everything in detail.
Information for people in Angola
Our Luanda team handles personal information in Angola, so the Angolan Personal Data Protection Law (Lei n.º 22/11, de 17 de Junho, Lei da Protecção de Dados Pessoais) also applies to that handling. In summary:
- Controller: LNKS, a UK record label, through LNKS Luanda Music Group. Contact: lnksluandamusicgroup@gmail.com.
- Purposes: those listed in Why we use it and our lawful bases.
- Recipients: those listed in Who we share it with.
- Whether answering is mandatory: sending us information is voluntary; see What you have to give us for what happens if you do not.
- Your rights: access, rectification, deletion and objection, which you can use by emailing us.
- International transfers: between Angola and the UK, and to Google's servers, as described in International transfers.
- Complaints: to the Agência de Protecção de Dados (APD).

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, such as starting to use analytics, we will update this page before the change takes effect.
